Alive" is a profound landscape that makes the viewer think about life, death and the passing of time. The scarlet-pink sky, filled with thin tree branches, creates an atmosphere of mystery and some mystical beauty. The viewer, as if lying on the grass and looking up, sees black tree branches that cross the entire picture. However, the central attention is drawn to the torn off, not yet yellowed leaf. It floats in the wind, as if dancing in the air before our eyes. This leaf symbolizes something fleeting and temporary in life, as well as our own existence, which, like the leaf, can be torn off at any moment. The image of a leaf floating in the air represents the short duration of life and the inevitability of time passing. He appears to float on the wind, ready to touch the viewer's face before falling to the ground and joining her ashes. This leaf witnesses its own journey as it has been torn away from the tree, its home, and now wanders alone among the dark branches. The play of the wind with the leaf only momentarily emphasizes the fragility of our existence and our transitory place in the world. Liszt appears to be performing his last dance before plunging into eternal oblivion.
